Overview

Horn speakers have formed the basis of many analogue PA systems in the past but this product adds PoE connectivity easing installation from the outset, now only a single cable run is required.

Its all-metal aluminium alloy construction provides a high quality enclosure for the electronics sealed by stainless steel fittings, this makes it ideal for schools, football grounds, retail & industrial areas as well as more demanding locations such as marinas and harbours.

Like the cabinet speaker, this horn has 80MB of onboard memory supporting up to 20 user definable MP3 files for scheduled or alarm triggered broadcast.

Configuration is via a web interface accessible from any modern browser.

Fully supported by the VOX-MIC-100 microphone this horn can receive and broadcast audio delivered over the network either on a one-to-one basis or simultaneous broadcast via multicast addressing.

Features

In addition to real-time public announcement (from microphones or SIP/VIOP devices) this horn can perform standalone tasks utilising up to 20 user defined WAV/MP3 files that can be uploaded into 80MB internal memory.

Scheduled / Timed Announcements

Flexible scheduling allows you to create up to 20 time-based triggers, each specifying:

  • any or multiple week days
  • start time
  • repeat interval (seconds)
  • stop time

Timed announcements might :

  • be informative customer announcments
  • indicate break or lunch times
  • indicate a store is closing in 20 minutes, and so on

Alarm Input Triggered Announcements

Input triggers can automate the playing of a user-defined file, with two alarm inputs you can specify two different audio files.

Alarm Input - Call Button

An input trigger can initiate a "Call" to an operator using the VOX-MIC-100 or similar, that opeartor can then issue instructions or similar.

This product has an embedded microphone but for two way conversation an external microphone, the VOX-MIC-010 should be considered.

For high quality intercom (two way talk), the VOX-INTC-1110  or VOX-INTC-2110, both of which are specifically designed for this purpose are a better choice over this horn.

Installation

This horn has a removable back plate containing two stainless steel cable access points. A standard RJ45 connector will not pass through either of these because the diameter is too small, you will need to :

  1. remove the back plate
  2. pass the LAN CAT5/6 cable through an access point
  3. crimp a plug onto the LAN cable
  4. apply silicone sealant if necessary
  5. replace the back plate

Mounting

When mounting the horn, incline the cone downwards to help water shed.

Software Support

These devices support automated broadcast of bespoke audio files via HTTP command so can easily be triggered via 3rd party applications or software supporting this feature.
